Black Friday is the chaotic day after Thanksgiving when millions of Americans nurse their turkey hangover with a little retail therapy. This year’s shopping event will take place on Friday, Nov. 25, and retailers around the US are already promoting massive discounts on everything from toys to TVs. 


In 2015, the National Retail Federation reported that 151 million people shopped Black Friday sales, with 42% reporting that they shopped solely online. While great deals can be found at the click of your mouse, mainly retailers still attract customers with one-of-a-kind doorbuster deals that can only be purchased in-stores. 


To help you plan out the perfect day of shopping, here are the start times, shopping tips and best deals from some of the top retailers.  





When:  5 pm on Thanksgiving for in-store deals. Doorbusters are only available in-store, and will be available from Friday at midnight to 7am. Online deals start Wednesday, Nov. 23. 


Deals:  The Barbie pop-up camper usually sells for $89.99, but will be on sale for $53.99 as a Black Friday doorbuster. Shoppers will also be able to grab the NERF N-Strike Mega Blaster for $29.99, and select LEGO construction sets for 11.99 to $65.99. 


Sesame Street lovers will be pumped to find the “Play all day Elmo” for $19.99 and LeapFrog LeapPads are going for $79.99 each. You can also score classic board games for as low ast $7. 


Insider tip:  Toys R Us always has great coupons. Be sure to check their Savings Center page before you head to the store.




When:  6 pm on Thanksgiving Day for in-store sales. Black Friday presale and doorbusters available on Cartwheel and online starting Nov. 23. Online sales begin at 12:00 am on Thanksgiving. 


Deals:  Target always features great deals, but Black Friday takes the cake. For just $397, customers can take home a 50-inch 4K UHD Samsung TV.  Shoppers will also be delighted to find the Apple Watch Series 1 for $198 (regulary $269.99). Not to be outdone, Target competes with Walmart by selling the Xbox One S 500GB Minecraft bundle for $249.99. While it’s $30 cheaper here, it doesn’t come with the bonus controller, but customers will get a $40 Target gift card with their purchase.



As for doorbusters, Target will be selling the Amazon Fire 7-inch Kids Edition tablet for just $74.99, as well as the Amazon Fire 7-inch 8GB Wi-Fi tablet for a shockingly low $33.33. There are also a handful buy one, get one free offers on toys, including all Star Wars Rogue One toys, all Marvel toys, and all Disney princess toys.


Insider Tip:  From now until Thanksgiving, Target will feature specially discounted items on its Cartwheel app. On Nov. 23, the retailer will also release special Black Friday preview deals, which can only be nabbed online or if you have the Cartwheel app.





When:  Now through Nov. 24.


Deals:  We couldn’t talk about Black Friday without at least mentioning the mega-retailer. Why celebrate Black Friday on just one day, when you can celebrate it every day? From now through Nov. 24, Amazon will offer daily lightning deals during their “Countdown to Black Friday Deals Week Sale.” The deals will change daily, but according to Amazon, some include a 32-inch 720p LED TV for $69.99, a 43” 4K Ultra HD Smart TV for $199, a Blue Yeti USB Microphone for $89.99, and a Kindle for only $49.99.
